Parental Advice

We are going to have to start thinking about registering soon (for the baby shower).
This task seems a little overwhelming to me. There are SO many products out for babies- which ones are actually necessary and of those that you will need, how do you pick the brand and type..... I walked down the diaper aisle the other day and WOW! Talk about some choices!

So, I am asking for your help. What items/products could you not live without for your babies? Which ones did you never use? Do you have favorite brands?

I've been told by numerous people that Dr. Browns bottles are the way to go, so that is on the list..... but what else?

Thanks in advance for your comments!!! :)

I will be happy to help you register. I remember that task and it was VERY overwhelming!! I have found that Huggies are the best diapers, but I used Swaddlers for the first couple of months. I also couldn't have lived without our bouncy seat! Let me know if you need more help.

Love
Amy

Man that seems so long ago for me since my baby is now 6. One thing I would not go with out is an exersaucer...keeps the little ones entertained so some work can be accomplished!!
Good luck hope you get more 'current' advice!

I really can't think of anything that I couldn't have lived without. I agree with Amy that Huggies are the best but I've found that so many people have different opinions on that. Just try a bunch of different kinds. If you have a Costco out there, that's the cheapest place to buy them.

Found you on Sarahs blog, hope you don't mind my invasion! I have three kiddos, and as far a bottles go we tried every kind and for some reason mine ONLY would take the super cheap Walmart bottles. Every kid is so different, one of mine LOVED the swing, the second HATED it, and well the third did without because I donated it before I new he was coming:) Best wishes, and I love reading about your pregnancy!

I looked at other peoples registries on-line, some I knew some I didn't, I looked at the ones that was already done with, thinking that the things purchased was what other good moms thought was good to buy. I think my bumbo was a huge waste of money, I did have a bouncy but Ryan never liked it. The swing I think was the best with a good CD playing in the back ground...any questions just ask me!

Just to comment on Amanda's comment. I still use my bumbo with Ella so I guess it just depends on you. She sits in it when I put on her coat in the morning. It helps me contain her so she doesn't run off. I agree about the exersaucer too. Ella didn't like her swing at all, but I just think they get used to whatever you put them in right away. It is a trial and error kind of thing. Some things you buy you never use some things you can't live without. Good luck!! :)

Hey girl.....some additional items are exasaucer, bumbo seat, extra crib sheets.........and we used the swaddlers until stage 2,then switched to Huggies.....I've heard the Target brand of diapers are just as good. As far as medical needs......"rectal" ewhhh thermometer, generic tylenol, ibupofen, desitin, and gas relief drops all have the same ingredients. Love ya, trace

I've got a 4 1/2 month old and here's what I'd recommend.
Swing - we have a Rainforest one and he loves to look at the mobile part (if still puts him to sleep)
Receiving Blankets - I didn't like getting these as gifts but now I realize you can't really have too many. Target has some adorable ones...the brand is Dwell Studio. I love them!
We use Pampers Swaddlers and haven't had any leaking. They're super soft too but we haven't tried anything else.
Soothies Pacifiers - especially if you're going to breastfeed. These things saved me!
We also use Soothies bottles - same reason.
Baby Einstein Gym - Sam LOVES this thing and can keep himself entertained for quite a while with it...especially the musical star.
Oh, and long-sleeve onesises. They are sometimes hard to find but great for cool days!
Good luck! And try to have fun registering :)
