Don't Give Up On Me....

I am so behind in the world of blogging. I try to get to your blogs, I promise, I do. But, as you know, life with a 2 week old is completely unpredictable and sleep deprived and full of feedings and changings. So, I hope that in the weeks to come, we get on a schedule and I can spend a little more time hearing about your lives.

I am still breastfeeding. It's going pretty well. At least, I think it is. From the look of Chloe's diaper output, its going pretty well for her too. I still get nervous that she isn't getting enough every feeding. She is a very sleepy eater and I have a hard time keeping her awake sometimes. I kept waiting and waiting for the painful engorgement to come... it never did. Sure, I feel heavier, but the pain that I expected just never happened. Thank God! I was so worried about that part of breastfeeding. Sometimes I think... oh, just wait, you are going to be a late bloomer in the engorgement department, but I just don't think so... I mean, tomorrow will be two weeks since she was born. My milk is in. For those of you who have breastfed- I'm past the engorgement, right? Right?!?!

One of my good friends, has joined the blogging world! I love new blogs to read. (even though my time is limited right now)... so, if you have spare time, go on over to Life In The Morrow Household (you can access the link on my sidebar- my link option isn't working right now and I just don't have the time to figure it out). I know she would love the visitors!

Hope everyone's summer is going well! I promise to get to your blogs soon- or at least as soon as I can!

Hey..yes breastfeed babies sleep allot when eating...this passes when they become 3 months. She gets what she needs and every baby is different...and if she is past her birth weight already..she's doing TERRIFIC!! and for a first time mother I would say your doing WONDERFUL! They just love to be close to their mommies chest and it comforts them and makes them sleepy....remember breast milk is full of fat unlike formula.

if you ever have any concerns please don't hesitate to call..Val has my number;)

I'll even be in your area next week...all my family lives there..I'll be in Troy, MO and Florisant MO. small world!

it's good to hear from you... you'll get there eventually. Don't worry about it! Blogs sometimes feel obligational, but they aren't!

No engorgement problems for me with Deeder, and I seem to be fine with Carly too. Falling asleep while nursing is common, I guess up through the first month. I find rubbing the babies feet and maybe even unsnapping their sleeper a little helps wake them up. :P

I worried too with Deeder on the is-my-baby-getting-enough to eat with nursing. Really though, with baby growing I see little to worry about looking back. Carly seems fine, and it sounds like Chloe is doing well too!

Enjoy getting to know your new baby and get a chance to rest while you can. The blogs will still be around when you come out of the newborn fog.

I never had the painful engorgement either, and I had an oversupply of milk and overactive letdown. I'd say you're in the clear at this point, just don't try to go too long between feedings. The first time she sleeps through the night you might wake up engorged, but feeding her will relieve it quickly.

It sounds like you have a wonderful breastfeeding relationship going. Try not to worry too much and enjoy it, LP was a 8 minute, 1 side nurser for the first couple of months. I was sure she couldn't be getting enough, but she continued to grow at a great rate and is now a completely healthy 2.5 year old. Babies are really amazing at regulating their own food intake, we really don't have to worry unless they are actually losing weight.
